Watch Doctors is a bespoke watch repair company, specialising in the servicing of premium brands, including Rolex, Cartier and TAG Heuer. Founded in 1984, the company has steadily built a reputation for their expertise, attention to detail and Swiss-trained repair team, becoming an accredited repair partner for some of the biggest names in watchmaking.

THE BRIEF

Watch Doctors had one objective in mind:
to increase enquiries through their digital channels.

For over 30 years, their business had built a name in the B2B side of watch repair, operating as an outsourced service provider for various jewellers and watch manufacturers. They were now looking to expand further into the B2C market and begin building authority as the UK’s leading watch repair service.

Early into our discussions, it became clear that Watch Doctors wanted to build their digital brand with targeted social media campaigns, designed to engage collectors and timepiece aficionados. We saw huge potential in other areas of their digital growth. Certainly, there were massive opportunities to boost search visibility. That gave us with two growth-oriented brand goals:

HOW WE ACHIEVED THE RESULTS

On Christmas Day 2022, Watch Doctors outran its key competitors to become the most visible Watch Repair business on UK Google.

We knew from the get-go that the existing Watch Doctors website would need some attention. The website served its purpose, but now its purpose was changing. Behind the scenes, the existing site had to jump some technical hurdles: errors, responsive issues, redundant URLs and canonical flaws that quickly dashed any chance of Google’s bots crawling and indexing effectively. Our web development team smashed through that barrier, resolving all 189 of their flagged technical challenges.

Once we had a blank, search-friendly canvas to work with, we set about building an SEO strategy that would attract high-quality organic traffic. As an initial proof point, the Search team built a keyword basket focusing on 20 high-priority, high-value brands. These keywords were implemented as new brand-specific pages into the site, replacing the simple pricing grid that was already in place with a fresh, user-friendly template, engaging copy, eye-catching visuals and three attractive conversion opportunities. From there, it was simply a case of clean, meticulous, bi-weekly on-page optimisation.

By the time Watch Doctors’ six-month contract renewal rolled around, we were signed on to apply our winning formula to all of their brand repair pages, enabling us to reach huge peaks in visibility, leaving the client’s two biggest competitors in our dust. (And, we were asked to build the first ever Hertfordshire Horologists site, a testament to our results).

Watch Doctors are seeing month-on-month growth from their continued relationship with Invanity. As a result, they’re now opening a second store, which we’re hoping to get stuck into soon. 

Our strategy is built on being relentlessly clean. As a result, we’re continuing to work on rounds of optimisation on content and technical health. We’ve noticed key competitors are now trying to replicate what we’ve been doing (we see you!), so our biggest priority is to stay one step ahead.
